Configuration Management Standard EIA-649 Rev. C

CMstat extends our congratulations to the SAE EIA-649 Configuration Management Standards G-33 Committee chaired by Larry Gurule on the Feb. 7 release of the very important Revision C.

This consensus standard for configuration management was revised by a respected international team that brought together representatives from major domestic and foreign aerospace and defense contractors, the FAA, independent subject matter expert consultants, software providers, and other CM professionals from the armed forces of the United States, Canada and Australia.

CMstat’s representative to the committee is Lisa Fenwick, Vice President Product Development, who remarked:  “It was an exceptional opportunity to be involved in the discussions around each topic during this standard’s major rewrite, with input from individuals of such varied backgrounds and valuable experiences.  I feel honored to have been a part of this team and the work that was produced.”

Changes to this essential standard in CM now make it relevant to processes and services, not just traditional products, while improving the standard’s applicability in both commercial and government environments.
