CMstat Announces New Release of EPOCH for As-Maintained Configuration Management

The latest release of the EPOCH Configuration Management and Data Management Software (Version 2.5.3.166) has been announced by the U.S.-based independent software provider CMstat.

CMstat’s EPOCH CM/DM solution was first made available to the company’s Aerospace & Defense industry customers in 2009. Since then, EPOCH has enabled program managers, project leads, product engineers, logistics managers, supply chain contractors, and MRO sustainment operators to quickly deploy an instantly usable web-based tool for performing “live” As-Maintained Hardware Configuration Management of complex products, fielded equipment, in-service assets, and deployed systems over their extended lifecycle of operation.

EPOCH CM, like its predecessor PDMPlus CM, delivers the most comprehensive configuration management functionality “out of the box” in a nimble standards-based solution usable not just by CM specialists in engineering but also by non-expert occasional consumers of configuration data located across the OEM’s supply and service chains.

The new release continues to establish EPOCH as the most feature-rich CM tool available on the market today. Lisa Fenwick, Vice President of Development for CMstat, commented on the relevance of the new release to existing and prospective customers by stating:

“Our continual involvement in the CM and DM communities has been a great source of deep insights into new capabilities that are crucial to CM and DM users. Such good work has been done by the various standards committees to advance the disciplines and CMstat is uniquely poised to act on those needed product enhancements. I’m quite proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish for the benefit of our customers and the CM/DM profession as a whole.”

The latest CMstat EPOCH enhancements include a comprehensive set of updates aimed at expanding upon the product’s functionality, usability, security, interoperability, configurability, workflow flexibility, and support of important standards like EIA-649C, EIA836B, EIA859B, ISO 10007, NIST, and Mil-Std-973 (cancelled but still referenced!).

A partial list of the numerous changes includes:

  • Model Records can now be created to represent CAD models and relate them to the appropriate parts/documents/software records in the product structure.

  • Models may also have their own structures, adding to the flexible Product Structuring capability EPOCH delivers to Configuration Managers.

  • As-Configured Search has been enhanced to allow users to retrieve an As-Built Record based on direct search of sub-components that appear within those structures.

  • The As-Configured Move Notes tab allows for clearer documentation of component actions such as drag and drop a component to another location within the structure.

  • The As-Configured Module offers a new spreadsheet view for an As-Config Record to include all parts and serials installations for those parts.

  • Expanded user capabilities to capture true As-Built Configurations aligned with their workflow processes.

  • A new Sign Off feature enables simple setup of review templates and allows capture of multiple approvers of a record including capture of reviewer comments.

  • A new Baseline Compare function has been added that accelerates the analysis of program progress.

  • The display of Change Incorporation information in all reference data grids now provides users with valuable insights into Change Status and Change Implementation.

  • Enhanced As-Configured Build data which includes multiple unit identifiers (serial number, bar code, UID, and more), Reference Designators, Software updates/patches.

  • Additional support of standards with the addition of a Planning Function to Changes, Expansion of Certification for any record type, and capture of Change Effectivity.

  • Search Screens have had multiple enhancements to allow for filtering search results which can then be exported directly to MS Excel if desired.

  • Users may add a User-Defined Language in addition to the Spanish and French language support that already exists for product navigation.

  • The Document Record Remarks Field has been increased to an 8000-character field size and a Remarks Section has been added to the roll revision process for non-CM-controlled records.

  • Support for Custom Menu options to allow for user-specific processes and features to be accessed while remaining in a COTS installation.

  • The Metrics Screen additions increase management visibility of work progress.

  • New Administrator Options have been added for two-factor authentication, support of multiple databases, control of custom processes, site-defined menus/scripts, temporary passwords, and email template editing.
